AVMS Meeting Minutes September 8, 2025

Call to Order: Rich Greenberg, President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Invocation: Led by Kelly McNaughton.

Guest Speaker: Unfortunately, the speaker from Our Warrior Place was unable to attend.

Officer Reports

Treasurer’s Report – Steve Milbrod:

For the month of August, we had a beginning balance of $19,529.98 and we ended the month with $21,782.23.
Deposits of $2,332.50 were made consisting of $2,297.50 from ticket sales for Del Webb Feud and $35 from a shirt sale,
On the expense side there was a total of $80.25 spent for the Del Webb Feud lobby poster.

Secretary’s Report – Gail Boyle:

July 2025 meeting minutes were approved by the Board electronically and are available on the AVMS website.
Attendance – 25 Members 2 Guests

Other Business

Rich Greenberg:

AVMS By-laws are being updated and modernized to reflect the diversity of the membership. An email will be sent to the membership to vote electronically in October. The changes will be to ensure the President and Vice-President are Veterans, eliminates the need for a quorum, and expands the role of Director at Large.
The Tribute to Heroes will be held November 9th on Veterans’ Day. Rich, Bob are the steering committee and will coordinate AVMS’ participation at the event. Lakewood Ranch will make a donation to AVMS. A lunch for Veterans will be sponsored by Lakewood Ranch.
In lieu of the November meeting, we will host our Veterans’ Day event on November 10th and present donations to our charity partners.
Rich thanked this month’s hosts who were Peggy Hufford and Tom Mitchell.

Bob Turner:

There will be a short 9/11 remembrance ceremony at 8:30 at the Circle of Honor,
This month the scholarship committee will meet to begin the process and select a topic and discussion points for this year’s applicants,
October 5th is Del Webb interest group date from 1:00-3:00 and volunteers are needed to represent AVMS.

Upcoming Events – Steve Milbrod

Del Webb Feud will be held at 7:00 PM on September 13th. Tickets are currently on sale electronically online via Zeffy at $20 for AVMS members.
Member Appreciation Party is free and open to all AVMS members at 7:00 PM on September 20th.. We also will be honoring the 250th year of the military. Steve will be DJing.
Lot-Appalooza with Bynge will be on October 4th and Freddy’s will send food.

Operation Thanksgiving – Deb DiStefano

Operation Thanksgiving will kick-off in October. Paul Roy will be assisting Deb. Rich and Bob are working with Publix who will be providing the Thanksgiving gift cards this year. They are working on asking Publix if they will offer a matching program to increase this year’s available gift cards.

50/50 – Peggy – The 50/50 was drawn at the end of the meeting.

Our next meeting will be October 13th. There will not be a meeting in November.
