AVMS Meeting Minutes June 9, 2025
Call to Order: Bob Turner, Vice President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm as Rich Greenberg was on vacation. Paul Roy led the Pledge of Allegiance. Bob introduced Pina Turner as the new supply officer.
Invocation: Led by Kelly Naughton. Kelly also spoke of the many military and memorial anniversaries in the month of June.
Guest Speaker: Ashley Roberts-Ledo, Manager Southeast Region, Government Affairs, Tunnel to Towers Foundation spoke of the ground breaking on the new $20 million Bradenton 9 acres village for single men and women expected to be completed early 2026. The land was donated by Manatee County. The units are fully furnished and provide wrap-around services and case management.
Officer Reports
Treasurer’s Report – Steve Milbrod:
For the month of May, we had a beginning balance of $20,632.77 and we ended the month with $19,424.98.
We deposited $166.00 in gross revenue with:
$35.00 Dues
$58.00 50/50 proceeds
$58.00 Donations
$15.00 Merchandise sales
On the expense side there was a total of $1,372.00 spent.
$1,000.00 went to our 2025 ROTC Scholarship winner
$88.00 for new sponsorship parade banner
$214.00 for the Memorial Day wreath
$30.00 for the POW flag replacement
$41.00 for Webbfest supplies and reimbursements
Secretary’s Report – Gail Boyle:
The May 2025 meeting minutes were approved by the Board electronically and are available on the AVMS website. Gail also thanked the Turner’s who were this month’s hosts.
Other Business
May Events – Bob Turner spoke of the following:
- The funeral for Joe Colella which was held on May 13th.
- The Missing Man table was set up at the Oasis to honor fallen soldiers with a Del Webb connection. Names were read at the Memorial Day ceremony. Bob reminded everyone there are currently 75,000 missing in all wars.
- Volunteers who assisted with Flags across Del Webb on May 22nd and again on May 27th were thanked for setting up a beautiful display of patriotism in our community. AVMS member Jack Lartz was recognized for his outstanding effort for single handedly picking up nearly all flags before 9:00am on the 27th.
- Homes for Heroes took place on May 23rd for an Air Force Tech Sergeant.
- A meeting requested by Pulte was held May 23rd at Del Webb Catalina to introduce AVMS and potentially do joint events.
- The Memorial Day ceremony was held on May 26th inside the Oasis and then moved outside to lower the flags.
Upcoming Events – Steve Milbrod
- Del Webb Feud on September 13th
- Member and Sponsor Appreciation Party on September 20th
- Fall Fiesta with band Bynge on October 4th
Operation Thanksgiving – Debbie DiStefano
- Debbie will be away during that time and asked for volunteers to assist her

The 50/50 was drawn at the end of the meeting by Ashley our guest speaker.
Our next meeting will be Monday, July 14th at 6:30 pm.
