AVMS Meeting Minutes January 12, 2026
Call to Order: Bob Turner, President, called the meeting to order at 6:30. Steve Milbrod was sick and unable to attend.
Invocation: led by Kelly Naughton.
Guest Speaker: Mac Dill Gasparilla Diamonds First Sergeants’ Association spoke to the group and thanked us for our support during Operation Thanksgiving which provided 425 families with Publix gift cards. Two of the Master Sergeants provided insight into what they do to support E3 service personnel either with our contributions or with the funds they have. A framed Gasparilla Diamonds shirt was presented to thank AVMS for the many years of support given to the men and women during Thanksgiving.
Officer Reports
Treasurer’s Report – Gail Boyle:
We had a beginning balance of $6,104.13 and we ended the month with $8,232.14.
We deposited $3,840 in gross revenue. This breaks down as follows:
- $405.00 Dues collection
- $100.00 Merchandise sales
- $40.00 December meeting 50/50 raffle
- $2795.00 Income from NATR 2026
- $500.00 Corporate Individual Sponsor
On the expense side there was a total of $1,711.99 funds distributed as follows:
- $1,600.00 – Operation Warm Heart
- $72.76 – Night at the Races lobby poster
- $39.23 – Other supplies.
Secretary’s Report – Gail Boyle
December meeting minutes were approved by the Board electronically and are available on the AVMS website. A reminder was given about 2026 dues payable via check or Zeffy.
Gail thanked Mary Northrup who was this month’s sponsor and asked for other members to sign the upcoming monthly meetings sponsorship list located on the counter with the snacks.
Attendance – 31 members and 3 guests from the Gasparilla Diamonds.
Other Business
Bob Turner –
- Bob announced the names of the 2026 board members and welcomed Gerry Northrup to the board as Vice President. He gave his pledge to support AVMS and its mission.
- Bob via a slide show spoke of his vision for AVMS 2026 which included patriotism, military and veteran support, charitable partner support, providing events, a positive presence in Del Webb and the greater community, improvement of the Ring of Honor and increasing the presence of Memorial Day, July 4th and Veteran’s Day flags in Del Webb.
- Bob acknowledged his need to continue AVMS involvement with past officers to ensure the success of his first year as President with Herman Martinez speaking as past president,
- Bob stressed the importance of reaching out to all Veterans in Del Webb as well as AVMS members who may not be active. Bob would like member speakers during our meetings and Gerry Northrup will speak at our February meeting,
- Bob spoke of Del Webb’s challenge in reaching out to the community through the Threads, Eblasts, or Town Square and the need to more effectively reach residents to increase our membership and those involved.
Upcoming Events –
The Night at the Races will be held on January 31, 2026 and is expected to have between 160-200 attendees. Volunteers are needed for set up and enhancing the betting environment over last year.
50/50 – Pina
The 50/50 was drawn at the end of the meeting.
Our next meeting will be Monday, February 9, 2026.
