A.V.M.S. Meeting Minutes April 13, 2026

Call to Order: Bob Turner, President, called the meeting to order at 6:30. Gail Boyle was absent.

Guest Speaker: There was no guest speaker this month.

Other Business

WebbStock Results: Gerry thanked all the volunteers by name. The 50-50 collected $1730 dollars, half of which was paid back out.

Membership Report: Mary Northrup , Enacting the Membership Action Plan

A friendly second letter to renew was sent out to the over 100 non-renewed members from 2025 by end of March 2026. (High Priority)

50 entries for Grand Prize Drawing was an opportunity to invite the 39 non-members to join and a letter was emailed to them by March 30, 2026.

As of April 12, 2026, we went from 9 New Members to 19 (increase of 10) and (Two were “Friends of AVMS” with an extra $100 each.) Renewals went from 170 a month ago to 213 (increase of 43 renewals). We increased % renewals from 56.3% to 70.5%, that gave us 232 Members.

Suggest scheduling snack and social time for the first 10 – 15 minutes at the start of the meeting beginning April 2026.

Consider scheduling a speaker of interest next Quarterly to draw more to the meeting, along with continuing videos.

“Task is to Ask” challenge each member at the meeting to bring one person to the next meeting and make it interesting to make them want to come.

Making a Difference / AVMS Tour of Easter Seals Ranch in Nokomis
Operation 1Stride Therapy for Veterans this Friday April 17th.
Music and Game Night: Steve – About 70 tickets have been sold to date. The event is on April 25th at 7 PM.
Steel Across America: Bob – Steel Beam from the World Trade Center is making it’s way across the Country and will be at Booker Elementary School, Sarasota May 17th at 5PM
Memorial Day 2026 events: Bob – Flags Across Del Webb, Our Ceremony will start at 9:30 AM on May 25th. Taps Across America is at 3PM.
Happy 250th Birthday, USA. Waiting to see what The Lifestyle Committee has planned, AVMS has offered to assist. We will place the Flags Across Del Webb and planning on a Golf Cart Parade (decorated to celebrate Independence Day).

Treasurer’s Report – Steve Milbrod:

We had a beginning balance of with $12,969.03 and we ended the month with $15,510.03

We deposited $3,021.00 in gross revenue broken down as follows:

$725.00 Dues collection
$15.00 Merchandise sales
$953.00 March meeting and Webbstock event 50/50 raffle
$100.00 Friends of AVMS
$1,000.00 Corporate Sponsor
$98.00 Flag Fund Donations
$130.00 Miscellaneous donation

On the debit side there was a total of $480.00 spent on flags for our Flags Across Del Webb project.

Secretary’s Report – Tom Gwiazdowski for Gail Boyle:

March 2026 meeting minutes were approved by the Board and are available on the AVMS website.

There was a question if we have enough people signed up to be hosts at future membership meetings. I indicated we were good for a few more months, but if someone wanted to volunteer, they should email Gail, or let me know and I’ll pass the info along.

Attendance – 41 members (up 6 from last month)

Vice President’s Corner – Gerry Northrup

Gerry showed a YouTube video about the impressive Air Force Academy.

50/50 – Pina

The 50/50 was drawn at the end of the meeting. A total of $180 was collected and $90 paid out.

Our next meeting will be Monday, May 11, 2026 at 6:30 PM.
