A.V.M.S is proud to recognize our next Member of the Quarter Christopher DiBiase.
Chris and his wife Kristin moved to Del Webb in February 2018. “It’s one of the best decisions we ever made,” says Chris, “Del Webb Lakewood Ranch and its residents are fun, active, involved, and care for each other. Although I’m not a veteran, I am a strong supporter of a service-oriented group like AVMS that helps its community in so many ways.”
If you’re up early in the morning, chances are you’ll see Chris out on the road for his morning run. Or, maybe you’ll see him on his bike solo or with the Del Webb Wheelers bike group Sunday mornings. And, for good measure, the pickleball courts beckon on some Saturday mornings. “I’m not retired yet,” Chris laments, “but I love playing with the other Del Webb players on Saturday mornings. They’re very supportive as I pick up on the sport. I started out playing awful, now I’m just bad, but striving to be mediocre.”
Chris received his undergraduate degree in Communications: Public Relations from Rowan University (previously known as Glassboro State College by those of you from up north).
Chris grew up in southern New Jersey in a town called Delran. He’s a long-suffering Philadelphia sports team fan. “Philadelphia sports team championships are like Halley’s Comet – they only come around about every 30 years. I’ve been fortunate to witness a couple of these rarities in my lifetime.”
After college, he worked for 8 years in sales with Neopost, and then with Pitney Bowes. But, after the churn of office product sales, he was able to pivot into the healthcare arena. Chris started in critical care product sales with B. Braun Medical Inc. in 1990. Due to rapid corporate growth, after 3 years of sales, Chris was promoted into Marketing at the company’s Bethlehem, PA U.S. headquarters. As a result, Chris and his family moved to Pennsylvania while he worked as a Director of Marketing for Pain Control products. In 2007, Chris and Kristin decided to re-locate to central Florida, moving to Winter Garden (near Orlando). The move dictated that Chris transition from Marketing back to Sales. He is currently a Critical Care Region Manager leading a team of 6 Critical Care Specialists serving the Southeast Region.
The Path to Lakewood Ranch
“We were on the brink of empty-nesting when Kristin and I looked at each other in 2017 and said ‘Time to downsize’ and find our dream home,” said Chris, “We knew about Lakewood Ranch already because my in-laws lived there for several years. We always liked the area – especially its proximity to Siesta Key Beach – and signed on the dotted line for Del Webb on our first visit.”
AVMS Website Webmaster
“One of the skills I picked up while working in Marketing was HTML coding and WordPress website development, so when Herman and Jerry put out a request for assistance with managing the AVMS website, I volunteered to help,” said Chris who is currently Webmaster for the AVMS site. “The Association welcomes veterans, military supporters, and all who want to serve the community. My father served in the Army and in the Navy, so I have lots of respect for our service men and women, and want to do my small part to continue serving.”
