A.V.M.S. Meeting Minutes April 14, 2025
Call to Order: Rich Greenberg -President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. The President announced that David Chervin resigned as Secretary and thanked him for his service in the position. Gail Boyle, the Supply Officer, has agreed to take over the Secretary position until the current term. Also, he announced that Kelly Naughton will take over as Chaplain.

Guest Speakers
Remembrance of John Russo – Mary Russo was presented a folded flag in remembrance of her father John Russo. Mary gave a rousing presentation of her father’s time in Del Webb.
Tidewell Hospice – Clifton Peace gave an overview of the different programs that Tidewell Hospice supports including pinning ceremonies for veterans, caregiver and guardian support, and assistance with military benefits. They also host Vet to Vet Cafes where they assist veterans in meeting other veterans where there isn’t a program like ours. They are looking for volunteers to assist with their outreach programs. This includes pinning ceremonies, quilters & crafters, guest speakers, etc. Bob Sharak, an AVMS member, shared a story from his volunteer time with Tidewell Hospice. Nancy Denko thanked AVMS for their continued support of their program.
Officer Reports
Secretary’s Report: There were 4 Board Members present at the meeting. Gail Boyle was out and Deb DiStefano filled in for her. Deb DiStefano announced that the March 2025 meeting minutes were approved by the Board electronically and are available on our website. There were no new members at the meeting.
Treasurer’s Report: Steve Milbrod reported:
For the month of March, we had a beginning balance of $12,185.25 and we ended the month with $14,215.33.

Vice-President’s Report
- Reminder to pay dues
- WebbFest – Reminders about ticket sales dates
- Pictures from the Vietnam Remembrance Service and Night at the Races have been uploaded to our website
- The JROTC Scholarship will be presented at the May 12 meeting
- Volunteers Are Needed – Need a new Supply Officer to replace Gail Boyle. Other volunteers needed for Flags across Del Webb, WebbFest, and Operation Thanksgiving.
- Discussion about food options at the outdoor concerts – Mission BBQ and Lakehouse. This topic is ongoing.
Other Business
- Steve Milbrod gave a debrief of Night at the Races. The event was very successful and we have a list of lessons learned. We are excited to be doing this again in 2026.
- Steve Milbrod discussed WebbFest which is coming up on Saturday, April 26. Look for an email for volunteers.
- Bob Turner mentioned that AVMS went to Venice to do a pinning ceremony for a veteran who was 105 years old.
- Rich Greenberg spoke about the upcoming May events:
– Missing Man Table & Memorial Stars in the Oasis Lobby
– Flags across Del Webb
– Memorial Day Ceremony May 26; he will read the names of the fallen
– AVMS has been invited to Del Webb Catalina’s Memorial Day Service to be held on May 23.

Peggy Hufford pulled the 50/50 and also pulled a number for a water bottle that Kelly Naughton brought to the meeting.
