June 13, 2023 AVMS Meeting Minutes

Call to Order: Rich Greenberg, President, called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Director-At-Large Joe Ward led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Welcome Remarks: New members were welcomed by President, Rich Greenberg.

Roll Call/Attendance: All five Directors were present.

Officer Reports

Secretary’s Report: Dave Chervin announced that the May 2023 meeting minutes were approved by the Board electronically and are available on our Website. Minutes will be posted on the A.V.M.S. website.

Membership Roster – Dave Chervin reported as of the meeting we have 55 new members for the 2023 calendar year.

Treasurer’s Report: Steve Milbrod reported:

Opening balance: $21,121.42
Ending Balance: $21,187.95

Revenues:
$65 – Dues
$144.38 – Webb Fest Ice Cream truck
$1,100 – Donations (Sponsor and Friends)
$50 – Merchandise sales

Expenses:
$292.85 – New POW flag and Wall of Heroes and Parade supplies

Old Business

  • Corporate Sponsorships – John Bastiani gave an update. We now have window clings for our corporate sponsors.
  • John explained that Truman’s offers a monthly “Make a Difference Monday” where 10% of the earnings that night is donated to various charities.
  • The sponsorship program will now be restricted to a five month period annually.

New Business

  • Rich gave a recap of the Memorial Day parade and told us a record was set with over 3,000 people in attendance. In addition we received a donation from Lakewood Ranch in the amount of $3,000.
  • John Bastiani gave a recap of the Annual Splish- Splash event with the HOA. He spoke about the lack of support from the HOA and how it negatively affected our group. Rich has a meeting scheduled with Jan Ahrens of the HOA board to discuss the situation and will keep us updated.
  • Steve Milbrod spoke about the second annual Lip Sync event will be held July 29th with more information to follow.
  • The house being donated at Sapphire Point by Pulte is nearing completion. There will be a dedication on July 12th with more information to follow.
  • Paul Cote spoke about a special program for needy Veterans that will be held at The Robard Center from 8-2. There will be food, counseling, and legal help available. Paul will be soliciting volunteers as it gets closer.

Refreshments for the meeting were donated by Paul and Susan Cote.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday July 11th at 6:30 pm.

Motion to close the meeting at 7:30 was made by Rich Greenberg and seconded by John Bastiani.
